How We Rate Crypto Casinos

Advertising disclosure: we earn a commission if you sign up through our links, at no cost to you. This never influences our ratings.

Every score on this site comes from the same procedure, applied to the same kind of evidence. We do not play-test, we do not survey users, and we do not take an operator’s word for anything that is not in its published terms or a regulator’s record. This page sets out the five subscores, their weights, the caps and adjustments on top of them, where the data comes from, and what makes a score change.

  • Trust & licensing30%
  • Crypto payments25%
  • Bonus & terms15%
  • Games & providers20%
  • Support & UX10%

Each operator receives five sub-scores from 0 to 10. The overall score is the weighted average. An editorial adjustment of at most ±1.0 is allowed and must be justified in the review. Commissions do not influence ranking.

The five subscores and their weights

Each operator receives five subscores from 0 to 10, combined into a single rating using fixed weights: trust 30%, payments 25%, games 20%, bonus 15%, support 10%. Trust and payments make up more than half of the score, because “will this operator pay me” and “is there anyone to complain to if it does not” matter more than library size or the headline bonus.

Subscore Weight What it measures
Trust 30% Licence type and verifiability, operating history, documented regulatory actions
Payments 25% Coins, published withdrawal times, fees, minimum deposit, limits, KYC trigger
Games 20% Library size, named providers, live casino, provably fair originals, sportsbook
Bonus 15% Wagering multiplier and its base, max bet, expiry, game weighting, whether terms are published
Support 10% Channels, hours, languages

Trust: the caps and adjustments

Trust is the only subscore with hard caps, applied before anything else.

  • Curaçao licence with a published OGL number: maximum 7.5. The number can be checked in the regulator’s register, but the jurisdiction’s enforcement is limited and there is no dispute body in your country.
  • Anjouan licence with a published ALSI number: maximum 7. Verifiable by number, but with no public enforcement record and short validity periods.
  • No published number, or no licence: scored as unverified, below the Anjouan cap. If we cannot check it, we do not credit it. This covers operators citing Curaçao, Panama, Anjouan or Tobique without a number, the Costa Rica registration of Betplay.io, and the sweepstakes model of Stake.us.
  • Documented regulatory action or court ruling in 2024-2026: minus 1 per action. A cease-and-desist order, a fine, a bankruptcy ruling, a national block or a forced market exit each count. Absence of search results is not a clean record and earns nothing.
  • Operating since before 2016: plus 0.5. A decade of paying players is evidence, not a guarantee, which is why the bonus is small.

Worked examples: BitStarz has a Curaçao OGL number (cap 7.5), launched in 2014 (+0.5) and has no 2024-2026 actions, so trust is 8.0; Cloudbet reaches the same on a 2013 launch. FortuneJack holds an Anjouan licence (cap 7) and launched in 2014 (+0.5), giving 7.5. BC.Game is Anjouan-licensed (cap 7) with deductions for the 2024 Curaçao bankruptcy ruling against its former operators and the Dutch exit order, which is why it scores 5.5 despite a large product. Bovada publishes no licence number, has a 2024 Tennessee fine plus cease-and-desist letters from several states, and scores 6.0. The reasoning for each trust score is written into the review, and the resulting ranking is on the best crypto casinos page.

Payments

Payments score what the operator publishes about moving money. A documented withdrawal time counts for more than a vague “instant”; a published fee table for more than “no fees” with no detail; a stated minimum deposit and withdrawal limit each add. Where sources conflict, as with Cloudbet’s withdrawal time quoted as 24 hours by one source and 1-5 days by another, we score the less favourable figure. The KYC trigger sits here: an operator that says when it will ask for documents, as FortuneJack does at $10,000 in deposits, scores better than “on request”, and both beat silence. Four well-documented rails beat eighteen undocumented ones.

Games

Games is the subscore most prone to inflated numbers, so we use the lower figure where sources disagree and record which providers are actually named. A library of 10,000 titles with no named studios scores below 3,000 with Evolution, Pragmatic Play and NetEnt confirmed. Provably fair originals add if documented (see provably fair); a sportsbook adds only where more than one source confirms it.

Bonus

The bonus score is not about the size of the match but about whether the terms are published and what they cost. The multiplier and its base come first: 40x the bonus is half the cost of 40x deposit plus bonus. Then whether max bet, expiry and game weighting are stated at all; FortuneJack’s published $10 max bet and 7-day expiry score above an operator that publishes neither, because an unpublished term can be applied after the fact. Offers at 0x or 1x score highly even when the headline is small or absent, which is why Cloudbet and Jack.com do well. Offers with no fixed multiplier, such as BC.Game’s “unlocks as you wager”, score low because the cost cannot be calculated. The maths is on the crypto casino bonuses page, and the near-total absence of real free offers on the no-deposit bonus page.

Support

Support scores channels, hours and languages as documented. 24/7 live chat with a human reachable in several languages is the top of the range; email only with no stated response time is the bottom. A chat that starts with a bot, as at Sportsbet.io, is not penalised if a human handover is described.

Where the data comes from

Every fact is tied to a source. Operator help centres and terms pages are preferred when they could be fetched; where an operator’s site blocks automated access, we use structured third-party profiles and say so. Regulatory actions come from the regulators or from trade press reporting on them. Where two sources differ, the review states both and the score uses the less favourable one. Where a field is empty in every source, the review says “not documented”. Restricted-country data is handled the same way: an operator appears in a market’s listings only if its own list or a reputable directory does not name that market, and “not listed” is never described as “legal”.

What we do not do

  • We do not deposit and play to test withdrawal speed. A single test is anecdote, and you could not reproduce it.
  • We do not use user star ratings. They are unverifiable and gamed in both directions.
  • We do not let affiliate commission size touch the score. Commission data is recorded separately from the scoring fields; the affiliate disclosure explains how we are paid.
  • We do not resolve conflicts in an operator’s favour, and we do not score “VIP” promises, press releases or anything that is not in the terms.

When scores change

A score changes when the evidence changes: a new or withdrawn licence, a regulatory action, revised bonus terms, or a reader correction we can verify against a source. Each review carries the date of its last check; if an operator’s site contradicts it, send us the URL. Coin pages such as Bitcoin casinos use the same scores filtered by the coins each operator documents.

How are crypto casinos scored on this site?

Five subscores out of 10, weighted trust 30%, payments 25%, games 20%, bonus 15%, support 10%. Trust is capped by licence (7.5 Curaçao, 7 Anjouan, lower where no number is published), loses 1 point per documented regulatory action in 2024-2026 and gains 0.5 for a pre-2016 launch.

Why is trust capped by licence?

Because the licence is the only external party with any power over the operator. A Curaçao OGL number can be checked in a register; an Anjouan number can be checked but the regulator has no public enforcement record; an unpublished number cannot be checked at all.

Do affiliate commissions affect the rankings?

No. Commission data is stored separately from the scoring fields and does not enter the calculation. Several operators we are paid by rank below operators we are not, because the published terms put them there.

Why does BC.Game score lower than smaller casinos?

Trust carries 30% of the score. BC.Game’s former operators were declared bankrupt by a Curaçao court in 2024 and it received a Dutch exit order, two deductions on top of the Anjouan cap of 7, giving a trust score of 5.5 that a large library cannot offset.

How often are scores updated?

Whenever the evidence changes: new licence data, a regulatory action, revised bonus terms or a verified reader correction. Each review shows the date it was last checked.
